About Paris

Paris is the capital of France and it is situated in the north of the country, on the river Seine; it has a population of 2.2 million people. The area of Montmartre is in the 18th arrondissement, in the north of Paris. The name of the neighborhood is given by the hill with the same name in the center of the area. As proof still stand the cabarets Moulin Rouge and Le Chat Noir. Montmartre is one of the few Paris areas that still continue the tradition of wine production.

The district is also known as an artistic center because there were many artists like Salvador Dali, Maurice Utrillo, Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso who lived here in the 19th century, worked in the area and were inspired by it. Montmartre offers many points of interest: Place du Tertre is a great place where you can still find painters who paint tourists. Espace Dali and Museum of Montmartre are two museums worth being visited.
